Dawn

Earth looks round to face the sun
The curtains up, the spotlight on,
Night will leave, his time is done
For here a new day has begun.

Dawn will dance as crowds look on
They watch and cry or laugh in fun,
Some leave marks before they’re gone
Yet still the show will carry on.

People leave as others come
Exchanging places one by one,
As shadow stands beside the sun
A stage for dawn to dance upon.

Rain will fall and beat his drum,
While bees drift softly as they hum,
To show nights fight without a gun
A battle dawn has fought and won.
